Afraid of the Unknown?

I look for realities of the present seen through an inverted glass, which are so full of inspiration and of a strange and terrible beauty.

Most people are hardly aware, that underneath the ever changing events of the present is a layer of reality that is mythological. It is a reality of patterns of human behavior based on life and death, wisdom and folly, richness and poverty, beauty and ugliness, fertility and destruction, domination and slavery. Here we all dance the Dance of Polarity, that eternal tango… you and me, innocent fools, in an embracement with our own shadows.

Some call this deeper layer ‘The Matrix’. It consists of magical realities. It is not possible to rationally access the reality of the Matrix. It is irrational per definition. It is based on the hidden laws of the world of dreams and it is accessible through the great stories of humanity. During a magical retreat we create a magical reality. In this metaphoric reality you are being challenged, like Irma was during a vigil:

My task during the vigil was to go outside in the woods. I knew it was safe outside, and as a black belt I am perfectly able to defend myself. But I was so afraid for the unknown, for what is hidden in the shadows. This really was a test of courage! I walked a trail of electric tea lights that were placed in a pitch-black forest. Suddenly a realization hit me like a lightning flash and everything changed; ‘Look for the next light and you will never be lost’. Thus I walked from light to light and lost my fear for the unknown. Really, during this nightly exercise I completely lost this fear!

During the coming weeks I will tell you more about the transforming power of magical retreats. The upcoming retreat we will work with the magical reality of nature. You can read more about this life-changing event here.
